Steam Brewing Company

Steam Brewing Company started in October 1995 with a little English pub out front of the brewery in East Tamaki, Auckland. The pub was called Cock & Bull. Nearly 10 years later and with the opening of 5 pubs (by May 2005) the brewery was too small and a new brewery was needed. In July 2004, Steam Brewing Company purchased the Auckland Breweries plant. Which also included a packaging line giving Steam Brewing Company the opportunity to enter the packaged beer market.

Monk’s Habit baptised as champion ale ‘in a class of its own’

“You could say that Monk’s Habit leaves other beers without a prayer,” smiled Luke Nicholas. “This newest collection of plaudits for Monk’s Habit verify this beer as a true New Zealand great. No other beer has won as many trophies and medals at the New Zealand International Beer Awards over the years.

“This huge haul shows what can be done when you invest in delivering a quality-driven product. We're not about being the biggest... but we are about being the best. And with two 'best in class' trophies, three gold, two silver and two bronze medals, we've shown that by far.”

Regional gets new special beer

Regional Wines & Spirits will be our first outlet for the new seasonal beer (Chubby IV) for the Cock & Bull pubs, with a delivery overnight tonight.

Chubby IV - is brewed in the American Amber Ale style, a bright copper colour, Pale Ale, it is 5.75%alc/vol. We have used a generous amount of US Cascade and US Centennial, so that the hops scream out of the glass and linger on your palate for a good half hour ;-)

Aroma - rose water, turkish delight
Flavour - juicy malt with a big hop kick that delivers an exciting punch to the palate that linger to let you know you have had a real beer.
Colour - bright copper
BU's - 42
Alc/vol - 5.75%

Also being delivered, which is exclusive to Regional Wines & Spirits, is a carbonated version of Fuggles Best Bitter. We are trialling this to see how sales go. Since we had to lightly carbonate some samples of Fuggles for the New Zealand International Beer Awards in Nelson (awards announced 15th April) and the Australian International Beer Awards in Melbourne (awards announced 5th May) we made sure we had a few extra for Regional to put on the FYO riggers.

Re-Stocked Regional W&S

Monday saw a new delivery of Cock & Bull beers shipped to Regional Wines & Spirits.

They had delayed ordering more due to the end of financial year, and wanted stock as low as possible.

All beer will now be back in stock.
